================================================================ Title : Legend of Fort McHenry by HeavyGear Filename : fortmch.zip Email Address : philflo@pop.k12.vt.us : clay_nhs@hotmail.com Description : CTF, DM, Teams Credits to : Picante, and keepers of the secret of The Mystery LawMaker, Paleface - Alpha testing and Flopie - Beta ================================================================ * Story * Fort McHenry is not the fort's real name. Of course, that name lives in history as the fort in Baltimore, which bombardment in the War of 1812 was witnessed by Francis Scott Key. The real name of the western fort is lost, but the eccentric character who commanded it was not fond of the real name. Witness the artwork to truly appreciate this man and his cadre of officers. You will find an experimental fort. The inclusion of industry within the walls belies the wild nature of the little community outside the walls. This may be visited in the map, Blazing Saddles. Obviously this is my last map, but it will probably be THE last map of my authorship. It will be interesting to see who is suspected of being the LawMaker who stepped up to help with the completion of this map. There are clues. Some, of course, are intentionally misleading. Any guesses? A note from the Mystery LawMaker: The overall design is Gear's as well as the vast majority of texture choice. I contributed mostly interior work in the main building and the Iron Works as well as partial work in the Stockade and a small amount in the Train Station. I moved the Blazing Saddles copy and restructured the pool. The tunnel was of my design. Unfortunately, I had to make some minor changes to the initial architecture to increase frame rates. Many maps have higher FPS, and I hope that, given the complexity of the map, they are high enough for enjoyable play. Regarding my identity, it would be interesting if some webpage author would hold a vote of suspected LawMakers. To all LawMakers: If/when you are asked whether you are the Mystery LawMaker, just answer, "Could be?" Let's keep them guessing. * Play Information * This is not a James map. In fact I would say that even Bob would have an advantage over James here. (All the extra shotgun ammo is there for Bob players.) There are many corners for Bob to hide behind in ambush with a stoked double barrel. Sanchez should seek the heights for TNT launches. Chief will blend in well into the surroundings. Mary will probably rule, followed closely by Doc. For the CTF players, there are numerous high and low routes between the two bases (Train Station and the Iron Works.) With luck you will find that the bases are equal if different in their situations. * Innovations * Gaze out the window at the town of "Blazing Saddles." You'll see a conestoga wagon. Although it is just another PCX, the delivery method makes for a good visual. Were you to see it up close, you would probably not be impressed. Pay attention to the window work. The beds are pretty complex. Some ideas are borrowed from other LawMakers. I won't list them, since part of the fun will be identifying them as possible mystery men. They will get their thanks when they are accused. New PCXs : Yes New NWXs/ITMs: Yes New WAVs: Yes Please feel free to use any of these. A nod in the TXT of your map would be appreciated. * Construction * Base : Editor(s) used : LawMaker ver 1.0 Beta 3 Known Bugs : Nothing that should affect play. In Glide there is a show through from above the spindles of the staircase in the Officer's Quarters. * Copyright / Permissions * Authors MAY NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels without specific permission.
